Stunning still life flower arrangement oil on board by E M Dinkel signed and dated 1973.
Ernest Michael Dinkel was a painter of landscapes, biblical subjects, flowers and portraits who practised in oil, tempera, watercolour and pencil, and who also worked in stained glass, engraved glass and made sculpture. Born in Huddersfield, of German descent, Dinkel was a man in the arts and crafts tradition. He studied at Huddersfield School of Art and at the Royal College of Art 1921–5. Dinkel won the Owen Jones Travelling Scholarship to study art and architecture in France and Italy. Married the artist Emmy Dinkel–Keet. Assistant to Ernest William Tristram at the Royal College 1925–40, was principal of the School of Art, Stourbridge in 1940–47, from 1947–61 being head of the school of design at Edinburgh College of Art. Designed inn signs and posters, for London Transport.
In good overall original condition this is a striking painting that would look fabulous in most environments
